Job Overview:
We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our Elementary Special Education team at Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School. As a Special Education Teacher, you will serve as a case manager for your assigned students, collaborate with general education teachers, and provide specialized support to ensure the academic success of students with diverse learning needs. This full-time position is supported by a Special Education Supervisor, offering opportunities for professional growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a case manager for assigned students, overseeing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Participate in IEP team meetings in coordination with parents/guardians, administrators, general education teachers, etc.
- Provide differentiated instruction and progress monitoring of students with IEPs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to co-teach inclusive classrooms, ensuring that students with special needs have access to the general education curriculum.
- Deliver push-in and/or pull-out support as determined by student needs and IEP goals.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications to promote student engagement and academic growth.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes independence, self-advocacy, and positive behavior.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, behavior, and services provided.
- Build rapport with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach to student support and success.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and engage in ongoing collaboration with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- PA state certification, intern certification, or out-of state certified and applying for PA certification in Special Education
- Experience working with elementary school students with diverse learning needs preferred
- Understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
