High School Mathematics Teacher (Geometry, Algebra II & Algebra III)
Position Overview
Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School is seeking a skilled, engaging, and student-centered High School Mathematics Teacher to join our Mathematics Department. The successful candidate will teach a combination of Geometry, Algebra II, and Algebra III courses while creating meaningful learning experiences for students with diverse mathematical abilities, backgrounds, and levels of interest. At LVA, we believe mathematics instruction should go beyond memorization and procedures. We seek educators who foster critical thinking, problem-solving, perseverance, and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Teach high school mathematics courses including Geometry, Algebra II, and Algebra III.
- Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that promote conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners with varying levels of mathematical readiness, confidence, and interest.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and real-world applications to make mathematics relevant and accessible.
- Create opportunities for students to engage in mathematical discourse, collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to support growth and achievement.
Student Engagement
- Foster a classroom environment where all students feel capable of learning mathematics.
- Build positive relationships that encourage students to take intellectual risks and develop confidence in their mathematical abilities.
- Inspire curiosity and help students understand the value of mathematics beyond the classroom.
- Support students who struggle with mathematics while extending learning opportunities for advanced learners.
Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Collaborate with department colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment and instructional consistency.
- Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities and department initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress and support needs.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth and contribute positively to the school community.
Qualifications
Required
- Valid Pennsylvania Mathematics certification (7–12).
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to teach high school mathematics effectively.
- Strong understanding of mathematical content and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Preferred
- Experience teaching Geometry, Algebra II, and/or Algebra III.
- Experience differentiating instruction for diverse learners.
- Familiarity with technology-enhanced mathematics instruction.
- Experience working in a college-preparatory or International Baccalaureate environment.
